HAF (These courses are only available to those registered for a HAF session.)
This is a 1-day format for those attending a HAF session and is for School YEAR 6 children and above, there is an initial assessment in the playground covering level 1 skills to ensure they are ready for on-road training. Once out on the road, they will learn about road position, which road user has priority and when, and how to recognise typical hazards as well as manoeuvring through junctions.
- All elements of the course must be achieved to a competent, confident and consistent standard to gain the Bikeability standard.
- All trainees must have a signed and completed consent form.
- Trainees can bring a roadworthy bicycle, which means it must have 2 working brakes. There will be some bikes available for the session.
- Trainees must have a properly fitted cycle helmet for the session. Some helmets will be available for the session.
All Instructors are DBS checked and work for the Council’s Road Safety Team. Bikeability certificates are awarded to all trainees who successfully complete the course.
